A poem by Shelby-Liza Ndumbi
I take the blame, the heat, the screams
All this so you won't fall at the seams
He asks for something unbalanced
Because he lacks the emotional talent
I am your blood
I carry your name
I may have my undying strength
But the one thing I cannot be is your friend
The mistakes I make don't define my personality
I shouldn't be molded to follow society
In all honesty, I can ask for assistance
Yet all it's done is request my absence
Having an opposing opinion means you're impolite and ungrateful
Funny enough, regardless of that I'm not vengeful
I see both the good and the bad in what you do, or say
Others wouldn't have handled it my way
My path lies elsewhere where you might not find me
And maybe then, I can finally be...
