After watching Fright Krewe more than six times now, specifically the last three episodes of season two, it’s very clear how much I love this show. I’ve been anticipating a third season return because of the multiple Easter eggs and unfinished storylines that were dropped within the 20 episodes currently released, but also since the series deserves one. Keeping in mind that it was initially intended for a June 2025 announcement but got impeded.
I don’t watch many DreamWorks shows as most of them I’m not interested unless we’re talking about DreamWorks Dragons... not the Nine Realms. Without further delay, let’s jump right into the spooky-spooky stuff.

Section One: New Villains, Powers & Lore
Season two ended with a two-parter episode titled, The Sacrifice Part I & II, where right before the closing credits revealed a possibility for future storytelling when Mr. Harold Brumfeld said: “Oh, child, evil will always find a way into our world. We are never safe.” Following that ominous warning, the scene shifted towards an unknown figure in an undisclosed part of the mountains wearing a winter coat, surrounded by a gathering of stones that reminded me of the ‘Craigh na Dun’, the time travelling stones from the TV series Outlander.

A particular stone in front of him already had an insignia carved into its core. Whether he did that or not remains to be seen. The man used a pocketknife to slit his right hand, then allowed the blood to mark the stone, summoning some sort of demon, a skeletal looking one with a blue hood. The design wasn’t like Belial, despite what some may think. They entertained the idea of continuing the story, and I was onboard! What they hope to offer next season wasn’t just a new villain, but new powers and lore can come into play. Perhaps even stronger versions of the abilities we're familiar with.
Since Pat, Maybe (Will), Stanley, and Missy gave their powers back to their respectable Loas, Soleil as well to save herself, the introduction of other Loas could be a reason these characters gain different abilities to face a much more dangerous threat this time around. Vampires, Rougarou's, ancient creatures like Gilda, ghosts, sleep paralysis, nightmare-induced clowns and demons can’t be the only supernatural and paranormal entities present. We’re in New Orleans for God’s sake. There's a multitude of places we haven't visited like the Old Absinthe House said to be haunted by the ghosts of the pirate Jean Lafitte, General Andrew Jackson and Marie Laveau, the Voodoo Queen. Or the Café du Monde.

The major Loas are Maman Brigitte, Papa Legba, Ayida-Weddo, Ogoun, and Ayizan, but since myths are so vast, I believe there are others we haven’t heard of.

Section Two: Romantic Chapters
Ah, sweet, sweet relief that my Soleil and Stanley ship wasn’t in vain. I talked about them a little in my ‘Ships I Love, and Those That Need to Die’ tier list recently, but why not further indulge myself? When they released the poster for the show, I knew I was going to like it since I wanted to watch more horror, mystery, and supernatural animated content. Fright Krewe was perfect. I saw Stanley and Soleil on the cover and immediately shipped them like my life depended on it. During season one, not too many romantic inclinations were put on the table. But that's because I hardly noticed the multiple glances they shared, Star Trek: Prodigy was a good help when I saw from the start how Dal and Gwyndala were doing the same thing.
Both ships stared a lot! It was SOOO cute to see. I revisited season one just so I could catch as many instances of Stanley and Soleil gazing in view of the fact that I missed quite a few.

They didn’t make their amorous intentions clear at first, as if the writers were trying to keep it a secret till the end, so much so that I thought it wasn’t going to happen.
Stanley is a football jock, but he isn’t a bully, nor is he two-faced either like most tend to be. He’s caring, attentive, silly, respectful, well-raised, an amazing big brother to his sister Cece, non-judgmental, mindful, and loving. He was the first person to be patient and supportive when Soleil had to use Belial’s dark flames to destroy the Molder Stone, saying words of encouragement like: “Remember, you control the flames, Sol. They don’t control you.” Once the stone was eradicated, Soleil was temporarily possessed, to which Stanley was presented as the light she needed to fight against the darkness.
They could have chosen anyone else. Perhaps Pat could have stepped forward, thus making it platonic, but they chose Stanley.
Soleil is a horror enthusiast, strong-willed, has divine leadership, self-sacrificing, and sentimental. Because her character inspires courage, it brought Stanley’s more fearless side as time progresses. To balance, Stanley’s trusting nature allows Soleil to be vulnerable with any repressed feelings that she later embraces, like reconnecting with Missy. I like their differences, sweets and gore. I knew they weren’t going to have them kiss on the lips like Nelson and Missy since they just started dating, but we do witness Stanley landing one on Soleil’s cheek. Despite how much I hate squealing, I couldn't help it.
I can see them going on dates at the Bleeding Hearts Club, Alma’s pastry shop, or somewhere entirely new to the 13th and the 3rd ward sections of New Orleans. I’m curious as to how the writers will portray this newfound relationship.
Alas, likely elements for disputes between Stanley and Soleil harbors within Soleil’s independent identity vs. Stanley’s protective status. It’s been theorized that Belial’s dark flames might reappear and cause further damage to Soleil’s sense of self. Trust issues could result in pushing her boyfriend away, and him not being sure of what to do could either be seen as frightful or emotionally shielding of her.
Sadly, Stanley could also feel obsolete or underperformed in his capacity as both a friend and romantic partner. I’m optimistic that regardless of the arguments, the creative team won’t conjure an unnecessary, dramatic breakup out of their asses. Those aren’t as interesting as people think…
They closely mirror Shaggy and Daphne from the Scooby-Doo universe. I highly suspect that due to how much they fought and cared for each other, this inevitable tiff will pass over as they become more at ease with the other.
There’s been other ships that fans have speculated as possible chronicle material such as Maybe and Missy coming second to the Stanley-Soleil pairing. I must admit that I laughed but agreed with that statement after remembering that scene at Lou’s from season one. But you guys do recall she’s unavailable, right? Ha! That means they’ll have to remove Nelson altogether. Maybe and Madison also came to mind.

Section Three: Vampiric Influences, Friends We Haven’t Met & Rectification

I cried multiple times when Fiona and Otis Bunrady sacrificed themselves, hence the name, to delay the horrific and strange metallic version of a Rougarou created to destroy the Bleeding Hearts Club where vampires frequent. Knowing they were going to die and never come back, Otis tells Paulie, who turned into a vampire in season one to help his little brother Maybe, to look after their family. Paulie has been given more to do after turning inhuman. At first, simply being Maybe’s older brother standing in the background was fair, but if that narrative kept going, he would have been rendered invisible storytelling wise.

We haven’t met Paulie and Maybe’s parents because they’re musicians on tour. If they ever, how will they react once they return to New Orleans to find that their eldest son is a vampire, and their second child battled a prehistoric demon?
I’ve always wondered what they’re going to do with Nelson’s character, especially after being present during the hunts the Fright Krewe gang take part in. His dad, Mayor Richard Furst, from season one was a type of ‘fall from grace’ villain after the death of his wife, Cassis Furst. Since no one is aware of his dad’s past deeds linked to Belial, he didn’t suffer from public scrutiny. But what if he later does?

What if somehow someone got ahold of some information about Mayor Furst being the first to communicate and assist Belial? Aside from Pierre D’Rousseau, of course. Something Nelson and Soleil have in common. Just a thought... It reminds me of the footage exposing Diane Foxington as the Crimson Paw in The Bad Guys 2 not showing how Kitty, Pigtail and Doom (Susan) got it in the first place. Considering that Diane made it her business to check for cameras BEFORE committing a robbery.
Obviously, not everyone has the vigilance of a hawk, but I doubt she would have made such a simple mistake. Even she was shocked to the point of glitching. I philosophized that someone might have personally installed that camera in a highly secluded area to catch Diane, but that’s just me.
Given what his father was responsible for while also upholding a certain ignorant image, how does Nelson plan to amend that injustice to those who are aware? Internal conflict. Nelson came to terms with Soleil’s actions, but has he truly forgiven his dad?
When he discovered why Stanley and Missy were suddenly hanging out with Soleil, the very person Missy was adamant about not liking at the beginning, Nelson was dumbfounded. I noticed that despite knowing that his best friend has been gifted with powers and his girlfriend was no longer fully human, hence the secrecy, the distance, or break, he took might be due to guilt rather than anger.
Mayor Furst was the mastermind behind Pat’s dad’s death when they displayed what happened to him in season one, episodes six and seven, The Swamp and The Light. Pat wasn’t too happy about that, but he doesn’t blame Nelson. However, that’s a heavy blow to carry… the awareness that your father caused the death of an innocent man and was prepared to kill others for not saving Cassis.
Not wanting to lay bare the existence of abnormal creatures, Fiona Bunrady and Malcolm were ill-equipped to salvage Cassis' life. They still could have helped if they moved her body inside Lou’s or anywhere close by. It wouldn’t have stopped Belial, but Richard Furst’s revenge might have never occurred. Cassis wouldn’t have wished for this, and Nelson knew that.
These aren’t outstanding questions to ask, but I’ve been curious about what happened to Sol’s dad since he isn’t mentioned. Where’s Pat’s mom as well? What's your hypothesis?
I can only hope that the series gets the continuation it deserves because too many shows come to an incomplete conclusion with no satisfying resolve. That’s foreshadowing for something I’m working on.
Well, I’ll write to you Cupcakes later. And Happy New Year!
